as an audio engineer i can tell you that stoner/doom bands are the only ones ive ever worked with in any genre other than classical/jazz that were capable of recording as a unit, all in the same room, no seperate takes. no overdubs. no quantization or cutting or pasting. no click tracks. no monitor mixes or iso booths. Set it up like a live show, mic up, put up gobos, get sounds, hit record. Three or four takes per song, track a whole album in a day or two. One size fits all mix. badabing badaboom done.

Sad most of those bands are relegated to local dive bar tours that barely cover their expenses. Then they go play europe and get treated like superheroes, but still get paid barely enough to be there. And as day jobs they are plumbers.
