Ramifications for tech industry? Trump is offering to allow millions of immigrants from India to allow free market access to Indian markets for US goods.

Wages go down more. American workers working American jobs get replaced with foreign labor.

They want this, because they determined that massive global supply lines basically guarantee the USA loses any war it gets into with a real power, like China or Russia. So now they want to reshore stuff, but they still want labor costs low, so now we'll get a bunch of new H1Bs, so that when they move the Apple factory or whatever from America to Iowa, they can bring that cheap labor force with it.

>>511138900
Pretty much this. America First basically means Israel First, American Capital second. Americans are not really considered at all. They're just expected to clap because we're "winning" or something. Even when "winning" means flooding the country with foreigners from a third-world country to lower wages and living standards for the middle and lower classes. "Winning" means a lower standard of living for you, your family, and future generations, but Trump owned the libs by putting REAL SUGAR back in Coke and trying to get the Commanders to change their name back to the Red Skins, so it is time to clap.

By law, h1b visas have a 80K annual capacity for the entire world. However in practice due to various excemptions, America accepts ~300K-400K individuals with masters degree/high skilled workers/etc. These Visas are probationary/temporary employment stays.

While legally they may up the cap from 80K+, in practicality, they may simply want to reduce the exemptions and just up the limit to 500K.

The question for America then is, do we want high skilled workers who produce high value to our economy/country to become American citizens or do we want them returned back to India and produce value for India? Would you want Microsoft/Google CEO back in India or as US citizens? Same with Chinese H1Bs. There's a high rate of both Chinese/Indians H1Bs becoming citizens right now, however Chinese are quickly learning about racial prejudice in the US so they're moving back to China to build their own technology there. All the AI talent in America is built by immigrants right now. Whether its from China, India.

What does it matter if they produce value when all they mean to do is automate all 90k+ jobs and outsource the rest? This offers no utility to the citizenry whatsoever, and the service industry's output is only a means of extracting wealth from other nations for corporate profit. The corporations have no meaningful function other than to funnel money to Palantir.

More value = more jobs = better your life is. You want as much of a high productive people in the country as possible, while minimizing low value. Each high productive individual can support 10+ low value individuals. Bottom line of America gets dragged up by high value individuals.

In otherwords, high value individuals fund your social safety net. Low value individuals drain your social safety net.

>corporations
Made up of individuals who pay tax, who spend money in America, who contribute to rooting themselves in US, who create jobs, etc. Just imagine "corporations" as bunch of people. And also your retirement funds gain money with more profitable companies. You want more companies, more value being created in the country to offset value drain from aging, sick, disabled and illegals taking resources.

What baffles my mind is that those corporations must understand that lowering income - of the people who buy their shit - to such a low level that they cannot afford is equivalent to sawing off the branch they're sitting at?

These people who are supposedly more intelligent than us (thus "leading" businesses) cannot be so fucking shortsighted that they want to boost Q3 at cost of collapsing long term? Can they? Or is it a cascading effect of game theory where the dumbest mba at one company does it and then everyone else needs to follow suit as to not lose their faces in front of their dumbshit retard boomer investors ("but competitors line went up more than yours") which would be the real death kneel?

This suicidal practice needs to be studied and banned by law.

If American laborers cant provide value to the company and instead bankrupt the company, then there's no benefit. If American laborers provide benefit to the company, why would anyone fire American laborers.

Simple as that. 90% of the company in US has lazy people that contribute to the company, thats why Musk fired 90% of Twitter and the site has only gotten better. Thats why the tech companies has shed half a million people over the last 2 years because they dont contribute to the company. They were there primarily for diversity quotas, stacies who film on tiktok, grifters who grift by embedded themselves inside a byzantine beurocratic system.
No high value Americans are getting fired, in fact, all the top tech companies are paying BILLIONS for high value employes. Hundreds of millions, tens of millions PER employee. There has never been a time where companies have paid more for single high value individuals in the history of the world.

So where the DEI hires go? Thats the question. You learn new VALUABLE skills and move to different areas where your value is required. Society doesnt stop. It always requires new valueable people. Demand will always be there.

tech workers are but an extremely small portion of tech consumers, what you said is stupid, i notice that a lot of politically inclined retards tend to want things to appear as natural consequences of the system or natural steps within it when they are not, for example henry ford said that he just wanted his workers to buy the cars when he raised their wages but what he really wanted was for the industry to keep up and raise the standards of living (he was not going to and did not kill off the competition, a historical fact), he was just a really good person but anyway, there is no such mechanism as the one you describe, everything is whole for these companies.

Gun to my head right now Trump/Miller and team are crafting some sort of visa redefinition that will significantly reduce the # available without rocking the boat too much and immediately making big tech angry.

You are misunderstanding the situation. Not h1b caps removal.
Green card cap removal. As a Euro that was on h1b in the States for a few years and talked h1b rules with Indians (and Chinese) let me explain the situation.

H1b is a dual intent work visa. Dual intent means that you can use it if you intend to work for a few years and go back home. Or you can use it intending to eventually become a citizen. I was mostly thinking of going back home eventually but I gave staying serious consideration.

h1b visa is for 3 years, and you can renew it once for additional 3 years. At that point you have to make a call either you go home or you apply for a green card (=permanent residence visa). While your green card application is pending you can keep renewing your h1b, 3 years at a time. As long as you are in good standing and have work (its a work visa so you gotta work). Also since h1b is a work visa you cant just change employers. It's a whole process where you have to apply for permission. It's especially complicated and risky if you have a pending green card application, but it's possible.

Now green cards are capped, and every country has the same cap per year. So people from some tiny country have the same cap as a giant country of 1.5billion people (India and China). Can you see where this is going? There are lots of Indians and Chinese with pending green card applications and the cap is low so they have to wait for decades to get a permanent green card visa. But they can still stay and roll their h1b 3 years at a time. This is a kind of unsecure position as they could at some point be forced to leave by a change in visa rules or if they struggle to find work. Another important consequence is that their employers have a lot of power over them as changing work is so hard. Whereas an American citizen can give their 2 weeks notice (or even leave the same day in some cases i believe memory is getting hazy), for an h1b to leave it's a many months long process.

(cont) If you get fired on an h1b visa you technically have to leave the country immediately, but everyone involved realises that this is unrealistic, so there is an inofficial rule that you get 30 days to find new work or leave.

Okay so then what does lifting the green card cap actually mean? It means that all these Indians and Chinese will go from having temporary to permanent visa. There will probably be a short term boom as the backlog clears, but then it will slow down again. Since many of them have been in the US for a long time they will probably apply for citizenship too.

Personal effects -> Anxiety will go down as they aren't constantly wondering if they will be kicked out.
Job market effects -> They will be more secure and have better negotiating position against tech companies.
Election effects -> They will be allowed to vote when they become citizens.

This can be easily explained by human behavior. Why do people think that the elites have some glorified plan.

In reality, it's really as simple as the human tendency to look out for number 1. Some guy becomes CEO of a company. He's only thinking about boosting shareholder value in the short term because if he does he gets a fuck huge bonus at the end of the fiscal year. He then fucks off to another company. Rinse and repeat and you have the current state of corporations. Just look at the average tenure of CEOs today. They have significantly decreased from years prior.

Think about it, what would you do in that situation? Do you really care about your companies future? You probably, and reasonably, only care about the paycheck and potential paychecks in relation to yourself and only yourself.

>Trump is literally "I hate immigrants: the Guy"
You're intentionally conflating illegal immigrants with legal immigrants for the purpose of trying to pursuade the readers on the merits of importing tens of millions of illegal immigrants

Trump has not increased any H1B cap. In fact, under Biden, the federal government allowed 800,000 H1Bs above the 120,000 cap set by Congress and Trump ended that.

He has literally cut the number of H1Bโ€™s by 90%. Yet every day we have literal kike / jeet hybrids like pic related making multiple threads implying Trump is both responsible for the H1B limit set by Congress, and ignoring the fact that he reduced the H1Bs allowed in by a huge amount.

Why is this? I mean nobody here except the NAFO agree/reply shills and bots is falling for it, so whatโ€™s the point? All of this false consensus never turned the board, it just lets us know what NATOโ€™s fake psyop of the day is.

Trump needs to leave NATO. Thatโ€™s all there is to it.
