Here is the part you are missing. These platforms, in an effort to prevent consequence for what they publish, have entered an agreement with the government that they are not liable for what is said by others on their platform, as they are functioning as a public forum rather than a publisher. This leaves us with a scenario in which media companies get to pick and choose what is acceptable speech by the public, empowered to restrict free speech as they see fit in a public forum they facilitate, while maintaining full first amendment protections for themselves.
