They don't touch, they overlap. It's more convenient to have them overlap over the place whee you collect the data and do research. Which you can see from the picture.

These colliders are still pretty small, the energies needed for a lot of things absolutely dwarf the amount of energy we could pump into something this size.

We could have one that's the circumference of the solar system and it still wouldn't be enough.

>Where the fuck are the quantum gigacomputers solving computational bottlenecks of A"I"?
despite the prevailing narrative, quantum isn't the key to AGI and that which is is very much maturing at a breakneck pace. in fact, you may have seen a glimpse when the chinese produced a chatgpt clone for under 2 million. yes, they had also scraped it but i suspect there was more going on than meets the eye. everyone was in such a panic to prevent a stock market collapse that the proferred explanation was taken at face value and was promptly forgotten. agi is a statement about energy efficiency at the level of biology - never forget that.

Pure science is the basis of technological and civilizational progress, which is of strategic importance to any nation.

It is a much wiser and more ethical use of resources than endless wars of imperialist genocide for zionist Jews.

Scientific research is directly tied to our quality of life, much like education.

Bro cmon just give me 100 MeV and we'll solve physics i promise bro. bro bro please we need to increase energy by one more MeV

tldr; faster (more energetic) particles will need stronger and stronger steering magnets to run into a tight circle so bigger circle = less powerful steering magnets (actually magnets that can be made)

still not enough, there are heavy particles coming from supernovas that collide with the athmosphere on a daily basis, and those particles have almost light-speed, the resulting energy is like the LHC x10000

and nothing happens

>The Texas Petawatt laser facility at the University of Texas at Austin accelerated electrons to 2 GeV over about 2 cm (1.6×1021 gn).[3] This record was broken in 2014 by the scientists at the BELLA Center at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, when they produced electron beams up to 4.25 GeV.[4]

Why the FUCK are we still using big circles? That's a literal metal gear surpassing weapon they've got.

Woah dude that's awesome, is net positive fusion still 2 weeks away? Slightly unrelated but how come the top of the line CPUs today max out at about 5 and a half GHz when they got to 4 and half a decade ago. Moore's law is still regurgitated to this day by amoeba brained NPCs. Where are commercial superconductors, solid state batteries? House of cards.

changing the reality, like changing thread or tv channel, to avoid a gigantic catastrophe in the near future (maybe some decades, less than a century ?) it's why the world makes less and less sense, it's normal, we are in alternate realities where events have lower and lower probability as we go farther away from the original reality where everything has a probability of 1 of happening. Maybe the sun is dying or overheating, there was a thread where an anon presented some graphics with the °K temperature of ions in the very high atmosphere and it was growing like the climate change they claim is of human origin.
that fucking sun burns even in winter, as soon as the thing is up it's scorching, year after year

That is like asking for the QOL improving applications for gravity or electromagnetism. Quantum mechanics isn't just some wacky hypothetical theory, it's how things work in the real world at certain scales of size. And a LOT of the technological developments today and for the last 100+ years happen at the scales where it is very relevant.
There are things like semiconductors, where people started making discoveries and figuring things out without completely understanding the quantum mechanics aspects, but a better understanding of that leads to massive improvements in the technology.

oh, the trend creating the modern world which continues to exert deflationary innovation?

what can i say? war is good for business. innovation was tempered in the interest of global stability. but now, the gloves are off and we're about the see some shit.

i'll answer but for your benefit: narrow AI and LLM as they currently exist shouldn't be conflated with AGI although they're closely aligned symbiotic halves. human intellect is largely distributed throughout culture not, as you would believe, a function of our meager capacity for abstract cognition. LLMs are cultural totems which will be placed into functional AGIs.
