Does training even matter in modern warfare.
Are Infantry fire and maneuver tactics outdated? Does training really even matter anymore in modern warfare? All the training in the world doesn't seem like it can save you if you are in a trench being hunted by drones.

just a question of having enough energy to power your drone jammer

people might carry around little lithiom ion packs like ammunition for one shot bursts that kill the drone (and then you run away fast)

Alot of drones are using fiber optic cables so cannot be jammed.

Yes training matters but it also needs to be updated to deal with the times. These days that would include trench fighting and drones, both with and against you.

How do you train against drones?
I suggested that we all go skeet shooting on my cousin's land but my squad leader said we couldn't drive 4+ hours for training and also heavily implied I was a homosexuality idk

>Last month it may have been during war-game training, but a force of just 100 Royal Marines reportedly β€œsmashed” 1,500 U.S. soldiers. The Β£400million drill in California also was reported to have been cut short because the British victory was so swift and unexpected.

Intelligence, tactics, training and guts matter.

Wars in the future will be fought by fully autonomous AI powered drones, in air, ground, and sea, in all shapes and forms. The winners of wars will be those that produce the best and the most drones and the best AIs. Any human in the field will have to be either heavily shielded and distanced from combat or they will have to wear extremely strong power armor.

what he's trying to say is you can blind the camera with an array of lasers, or nuke the internal electronics with microwaves. he's just some guatamalan border hopper who doesn't know what the word "jam" entails.

personally i think the most effective way to deal with drones is to use a singular, ultra high powered laser to just instantly set the drone on fire. laser tech has come far enough that this wouldnt be expensive or require very much battery power. the problem would come from autonomously tracking the drone and accurately estimating it's range, as those small scale anti infantry drones are way too tiny to show up as a radar signature (at least, one that can be distinguished from birds), you'd need to integrate it with a LiDAR battery to range small targets properl, which would expose the battery to areal reconnaissance quite quickly

Anonymous (ID: Ru2n+tI/) United States No.511208502
Absolutely it does. Consider how most of the drone kills you see coming out of Ukraine are isolated single soldiers or pairs, out of cover and with no protocol because their element is too small. This isn't to say drones are an easy problem but there are a lot of workarounds you could do before reaching for fancy high-tech equipment. Better use of cover, larger elements with distributed roles, shotguns or even paintball guns in the team loadout, detectors that target the rotor noise.

>All the training in the world doesn't seem like it can save you if you are in a trench being hunted by drones.
The act of being able to fly is a skill. You train that skill.
The act of knowing how to rig up your drone, or rig up explosives is a skill. You train that skill.
The act of delivering munitions blindly is ineffective. Tactical deployments are a skill. You train that skill.

Skills change over time. Not many soldiers even in a cavalry unit know how to change horse shoes. But they're still cavalry and still commit war crimes.
The technology is what changes, but training will remain.

Based on what we see in Ukraine vs Russia war, you don't need training on a level of a paratrooper or Navy Seals. CQC is pointless too because the modern strategy is blowing up the entire building with an anti-tank mine. What skills are truly needed in the frontline? Ability to use drones, basic mechanical and electrical repair, driving a motorcycle and enough courage to throw an anti-tank mine with a short detonation.

Individual training is still necessary like how to use your weapon/equipment., coordination etc. You are probably thinking about individual war experience or what people call "battle hardened", which is somewhat true because surviving a drone attack once doesn't make you immune to the next one

I expect that the main counter to drones will be more drones. Anything else seems impracticable. Your anti-drone laser turret or a an emp jammer will at least be the size of a tank, and at that point becomes a worthwhile target for artillery or missiles.
Buckshot may serve as a last resort and might save a few lives, but it's not viable, the drones are too fast and too quiet.
It's probably going to be autonomous swarms of anti-drone drones. Once both sides protect their infantry with a sufficient screen of anti-drone drones, the problem will be more or less neutralized and you'd be back to standard old-school infantry tactics.

>Your anti-drone laser turret or a an emp jammer will at least be the size of a tank,
maybe in 1980 lol, commercially available parts can produce a laser the size of a fallout laser pistol which melts titanium instantly. and it's only that big because it's built inside of a bulky radar gun housing. the actual working parts are the size of a fist, including battery.

watch Inside the Most Prepared Country In the World. Training matters a lot. For realism they have infrared drones and F/A-18s in the air ready to drop bombs on infantry units. Without training it would just be a massacre, as it is in Palestine.

Yes, but that's going to be as useless as a shotgun. More useless, because of the weight of the battery and the issues with keeping the battery loaded in the field.
Your laser idea is only useful if it's a fully autonomous system that detects and shoots down hostile drones automatically.
