All human genes are archaic or adaptations off of archaic mechanisms though, so I’m pretty sure archaic means “obscure” in this context, or just generally less expressed in the majority of people.
This is because our hominid ancestors originated from East Africa, which therefore acts as the center of all genetic diversity associated with the species, with groups such as Asians and Europeans possessing less genetic diversity overall as the populations which migrated from said East African groups only possessed a fraction of said genetic diversity. This is not to say that Europeans or other people are in any way “lesser” as a result or lacking in useful genetic traits (a tolerance to lactose beyond youth is highly beneficial for example), just not quite as genetically diverse in some areas.
