The pulled out of Steam because Steam was skirting the legality of selling adult content to kids. No one here is a lawyer, so I don’t care what any thinks about that subject. The fact that it could be argued either way was enough for credit card companies to end their services.

This was not a decision made in morality. It was a business decision based on legality. If Steam is found to be guilty of some kind of indecency law (such as selling porn to kids), Visa and Mastercard could be culpable in some level. They did on itch, all games with NSFW tags were hidden from searches, and a large chunk were completely deleted without warning. I presume they hid all the NSFW games and they're reviewing each one whether or not they feature porn before deleting them.

If you check any of the /v/ threads on it they have more examples. It seems they're only banning stuff that features porn of humans specifically, furry porn games seem to be unaffected.
