Well it seems that one of these two followed their religion which promotes agression and dominance, and the other ones followed religion which promotes being weak, submissive, passive, poor etc.
The only moment when Europe raised with christkikery was when reformation took over, because it had some fun interpretations about making money and being strong -as if you are strong and independend this is what god had in plan for you so you should be storng and independend. But these branches of protesntantism are long gone.

Add to that the fact that white people are extremely individualistic and refuse to help each other out, unless they're guaranteed to get something in return.
