A bunch of camp commanders went rogue during stressful war times and did indeed abuse or even kill some of their subordinate inmates, but they were court martialed by the SS for this.
Look up Konrad Morgen, high tier SS judge who had a bunch of camp commanders put against the wall for abusing prisoners.
As a whole, the camp system was dealing with persons perceived to be state security threats, and a good amount of forced labor critical for the german war effort. The entire "mass killings" narrative is absurd atrocity propaganda. There are zero written orders to that effect, and plenty of actual orders from the Nuremburg archives telling camp commanders to do everything in their power to uphold the working ability of inmates, feed/treat them reasonably well and such.
Doesn't mean the germans were saints or 100% morally in the right, but there were no mass killings. Especially not through "gas chambers". Period
