A few years ago. It started to click that shortly after 2012 everything was just a bit harder and more frustrating than it really had to be.

In all aspects of life. And it seems weird to complain about such things but it's just so odd the amount of effort required in every little endeavour.
Nothing goes right. Nothing is every truly finished. Nothing seems to advance positively without some advance negatively setting everything back to 0.

That "nothing ever happens" seems to be the manifestation of a living hell...in reality a lot is happening but it just balances out to an ever present net 0 of gain and loss.
The end result being a crushing weight on the psyche and soul.
