I'm an American living in Japan. I doubt I will have trouble either getting permanent residence or naturalizing when I meet the more reasonable requirements. I don't think recent elections will change much of that, either.
But let's say, hypothetically, that it does, and it becomes much more difficult or effectively impossible for Americans, specifically, to immigrate to Japan, even when they're integrating, demonstrate compatibility with the culture, cause no problems individually, and provide a valuable skillset.
There are 1.6 million Japanese immigrants in America, but only 66k American immigrants in Japan. If they start deporting Americans like they're doing with other foreigners (like disruptive Chinese and Indians), wouldn't it be fair for America to also deport 24 Japanese immigrants for every American? It's basically a massive immigration deficit.
