Restrictions were lifted in 2019 for US domestic beef, we only continued to impose restrictions on beef products sourced from animals raised outside of the US (typically canadian or mexican) and shipped in for slaughter, US has agreed to increase its standards to match ours so this restriction has now been lifted.

I recently started buying New Zealand beef after eating American beef for years.

...it's not close, it doesn't even taste or smell or look like the same species. Like I immediately realized I'd been scammed for years. American beef is not beef. I don't know what it is, but the NZ stuff is 10x better, richer, even the cheapest cuts I could find.

Ironically with the tariff and other bullshit, the US stuff now is nearly more expensive than the NZ beef. My local supplier can't believe it, he's got customers with their own refrigerated trucks going down to the Mexican border just to get the stuff for the old prices.

But I will never, ever buy US beef again, not if I can help it. And I buy big 30lb cuts that I butcher and freeze for myself. God only knows what the slop they're putting in ground beef.

So you know, NZ beef/lamb etc is the same quality as Argentine/Uruguayan because they only have 2 seasons - spring for 3 quarters of the year and a brief winter.
