Leviticus 16 = 2 goats.
One for YHWH (sacrifice).
One for Azazel (exile + violent death)
#######

Leviticus 16:8 (ESV)
“And Aaron shall cast lots over the two goats, one lot for the Lord and the other lot for Azazel.”

John 11:49
“Then one of them, Caiaphas, who was high priest that year, said to them, ‘You know nothing at all.’”

Matthew 27:5

“So Judas threw the silver into the temple and left. Then he went away and hanged himself.”

Mishnah Yoma 6:6

“They made a causeway for the goat because of the Babylonians in Jerusalem, who would pull its hair and shout: ‘Take our sins and go!’
The designated man would lead it to a high cliff.
He would push it backward, and it tumbled and was crushed to pieces before it reached halfway down.”

Acts 1:18
“With the payment he received for his wickedness, Judas bought a field; there he fell headlong, his body burst open and all his intestines spilled out.”

Mishnah Yoma 6:8
"What did the man do after he pushed the goat off the cliff?
He returned and sat in the last booth (sukkah) until nightfall.
And from when did the garments of the High Priest become impure?
From the moment the goat was pushed over the cliff.
Rabbi Shimon says: From the moment it left the walls of Jerusalem."

Not Mossad, as mossad didn't exist back then. It wasn't anything like the mossad that got him either, as I am assuming you are talking about the temple guards. It was Judas' placing money over the importance of faith in God that killed him. He hung himself because he had witnessed all the miracles, the raising from the dead, the people healed or blindness and being able to walk again. He had the unmistakable proof of the reality that Jesus was son of God, yet he chose the money over faith. His faith was nonexistant even after witnessing the event.

Judge no lest you be judged.

They say God is like zues, capable of striking men down with lightening bolts. Judas was struck down simply by lacking faith. Judas was the antithesis to the synthesis of the Gospel.

Thesis: Faith in the Gospel saves.
Antithesis: No faith in the Gospel kills and sends you to hell
Synthesis: One way leads to heaven, the other way to hell.

God's word is quicker than lightening, it transcends time itself. Capable of dividing soul from spirit.

You thought I literally meant Mossad and that makes me lol. Just pretend I said:

>priestly intelligence apparatus

I gave you:
>Leviticus 16

>Mishnah Yoma

>Judas = Azazel goat

>Caiaphas = High Priest

>Silver = transference of sin

>Field = ritual wilderness

>Judas’ death = typological mirror of the scapegoat’s fate

And you give me back evangelical reductionism, totally missing the deeper ritual layer.

User flag checks out. Git rrrrr done.

The goat was atonement for unknown sins, Jesus fulfills all the different blood atonements with his own blood.

If you had sins that you think you have done but didn't know what they were you would do the second goat ritual called the scapegoat. It included sins "whatever they may be" that were unknown.

Jesus dies for ALL sins, so none of these old Levitical laws are relevant.

You dumbasses keep reading NT through a mainstream Christian lens instead of realizing how much it's filtered through 2nd Temple symbology.

Now go read Mishnah Yoma 6:2–6:7, which outlines 2nd Temple ritual laws and procedures, then go back to New Testament.

Correct again.

The Jesus–Judas dyad is Leviticus 16 enacted with real people.
The New Testament isn't random storytelling. It’s a deliberate overlay of Second Temple priestly ritual.

Jesus and Judas are acting out the Yom Kippur ritual from Leviticus 16.

Back then, the High Priest took two goats:
– One was sacrificed to God (Jesus)
– One was sent into the wilderness carrying sin (Judas = Azazel goat)

The High Priest was Caiaphas.

Jesus and Judas were the living embodiment of Yom Kippur.

Barabbas was the freed scapegoat in the Torah. Although it was Judas who died hanging himself then falling off a cliff when the rope snapped or his corpse rotted after he died. Like in the Talmud which said they started doing around the Babylonian Exile. I believe the movie Barabbas covered this discrepancy where Barabbas lives like a wild man and dies a both a criminal and a devout Christian martyr years later. Too bad it is 20th century fiction. This is the problem of where real life events in the Bible don't quite fit in with the symbolism perfectly.

It is pretty much this:
Jesus a sacrifice to Yahweh.
Barabbas released into the wilderness as stated by the Law of Moses.
Judas a sacrifice to Azazel. A cultural practice that developed later. (Might have to do with all the feral goats becoming a problem.)

Eucharistic theology doesn’t touch the Leviticus 16 typology. That’s about atonement mechanism, exile, and blood logic, not sacraments.

Might be why suicide is considered a sin. It is a sacrifice to the devil. I know why the church would be against it but they really demonized it to the point beyond reason. You could have a very pious person who never harmed anyone except themself. Then have a priest tell the relatives that person is in Hell and can't be buried in a Church cemetery. Even though it was the only sin that person ever committed. Kind of a dick move for exoteric reasons.

Good thoughts. I'll add - if Judas was the Azazel goat, then exiling him not only had to be physical, but liturgical. Hence why he's repeatedly condemned all throughout NT as the betrayer and even until today.

No it got replaced by Lent. That is why Catholics sin a bit for Mardi Gras and it is OK. Instead of sacrificing a chicken and not eating or drinking for a night you fast for 40 days to have your sins absolved. They just don't tell the average person why they have to fast other than Jesus did it. Easier to keep normie cattle in line that way.

And the truuuuuth shall set you FREEEEEEEEEEE

So to summarize this thread:

Caiaphas, playing 4D priestly chess, thought he was rigging the game by sacrificing Jesus to save his political skin and letting Judas take the fall as the sin-bearer. But here’s the kicker: Jesus flipped the script, turning the ritual into a divine checkmate. His blood fulfills the YHWH sacrifice, Judas’ guts spilling in the field seals the Azazel deal, and the whole Levitical system gets short-circuited. The Third Temple? It’s DOA because Jesus is the temple (John 2:19), and Judas’ death in the wilderness screams, “Game over, Caiaphas!”

I would like to state that Caiaphas was a Sadducee. They were letter of the law type of Jews. When he released Barabbas it was the 2nd scapegoat freed alive into the wilderness according to the written Torah. But Judas was a Pharisee who later wrote the oral Torah (Talmud). That is where you get the weird sacrifice to Azezel by throwing it down a cliff. There is a concept called Judas goat. Barabbas goat never caught on.

The area where he killed himself has jagged cliffs and farmers fields. He might have hung himself on a tree on a slope growing out of a rocky outcrop. Because they were the only trees in the area and why no one removed his corspe from a tree. He spilled his guts on a plow in the field and probably smashed his skull on a rock on the way down.

Yes it's plausible he did it all by himself. But since it follows nearly 1:1 ratio of the YHWH/Azazel goat, and the High Priest picks lots, and Caiaphas picks Jesus, it makes me wonder.......

I don't care if you don't believe in the bible. What I care is if you see the symbolism playing out and being accelerated today, by people who believe in the bible.

Because then you're just going "lalalalala I can't hear you" while the narrative unfolds right under your nose.
