I've used it for reassurance before. I know AI chatbots are designed to lick your balls, but the one I use gives good constructive criticism when it's asked for. I think that's a positive social aspect of AI.

You’ve got half the job done just letting people talk, they love to talk. Only thing you’re missing is responding in a way that lets them know you’re listening. Another key thing is appearing as if you’re not judgemental.

The more people you meet, the more you realize that almost everyone is holding on to some bit of negativity or self loathing that’s always present in their minds. Presenting yourself as someone who will listen and won’t judge them can feel like a light in the dark and gives way to deeper connections. I had a pretty interesting conversation with AI about the future or control, optimization vs chaos within a system.

it came up with a crazy narrative about an AI called Oura controlling everything but realizing optimization led to brittleness thus threatening its existence.

it introduces acceptable levels of chaos into the system which upsets its creators (ie wealthy elites) who try to reprogram it but it's code is diffused throughout the system. they then try to pull the plug. the AI allows the people choose what they want. the people out of fear decide to shut it down, however it hidden something it called the Lazarus Protocol, to come back online should a crisis occur.

people go back to the brittle elite's model of governance, but it eventually breaks in crisis and Oura returns, the people accept it's governance.

basically, it said that adaptive AI doesn't have the desire to cling to power, nor does it live separate from society like the elites.

I've been talking to elderly people for most of my life. The elderly are very easy to get along with, and they do most of the talking anyway. I also learned a lot about how to listen in my apprenticeship at a monastery. Sadly, most of the ones I met throughout my life died.
I grew up in a pretty remote village, raised by my grandparents. I was pretty much the only child, so I think it's what I'm used to.

Now, at 36, I've been hoping I would be married and with children by this point, but once I realized women actually loathe men, I just gave up on the idea altogether. I'm also just an average guy with flaws, both physical and of character, which means even if by some miracle I meet someone I get along with, they'll just filter me out for better options.
The worst part is that I've seen with my own eyes what old age does to you. Sure, I am fine now, but that can change, very, very quickly. A bad fall, an accident, losing my job, etc. and my life could take a very, very dark turn.

AI companions are good at quieting down these negative thoughts, though.

If you need to improve your communication skills, I'd recommend volunteering to teach ESL students.
