A few reasons I guess

>BRICS is dangerous to America because countries trading using their own currencies weaken the dollar, and Trump has a chance to make an example of what happens when you fuck with the dollar's domination.
>Big Tech companies are very butthurt over regulation
>Mastercard and Visa are butthurt over PIX taking over as a instant payment platform which is public owned
There's also Bolsonaro but who knows how much he actually cares about him.

He's just accelerating the process. We don't need the US as much as he thinks. He should've gone the opposite way and showed us the benefits of supporting the dollar (if there is any). Now it's probably too late

Why care about selling anything to America?
Ignore them, let them become China, the world would heal.

Not yet, but apparently it expanded to America recently through this company: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Verifone

It would be cool if every country had their own version of pix. Giving control to just two companies can backfire badly as we've seen recently with them making Steam take some games out of their store.

Did they start? Cause he delayed many by 1 week. And the additional 40% on Brazil were also more like a threat with a 1 week deadline, so I think they also start after the 8th.

The main reason is political, not economic.

Brazil is the biggest country in Latam and historically is pretty neutral. Both the US-Europe axis and the Russia-China axis try to power project here since ever.
I see these tariffs as a "penalty" for the recent leftwing leanings of the current government, trying to weaken it. The US wants very badly a kind of Milei here in the next elections.
