Risking your life for a stranger is a crazy thing to do. But you would do it for your family, maybe even your neighbor? It goes back to tribal instinct. You would band together with your tribe to perservere. The obvious problem is that we look at a stranger, maybe even someone of the same race and we don't see them as a fellow tribe member anymore. They're just a stranger not worth risking your life over and their death or survival is inrelevant to you. Just a conseqence of living in a multi-ethnic economic zone where everybody is taught that race is meaningless.
