I think it is their end goal, China itself is an incredibly abundant place and with their demographic collapse that's coming it will be more than adequate for them. I'm not sure how the political elite in China actually view Taiwan, there are only a few million of them in reality but I don't think Chink on Chink violence is the top of their agenda, they really do see themselves as the same people.
