I think this is a very overlooked problem.

It used to be that people lived in small towns and communitarian families. Growing old meant that you became a figure of respect in your community, as someone who lived a full life and was full of widsom and experience.

But since 1945, the nuclear family, and then individualism, old people lost their privileges. They don't live with their children anymore. They don't have a local community to contribute to. Nobody respects them since the world has changed so much that their "wisdom" and "knowledge" are useless.

Being old in the modern world is just waiting for death. Distracting yourself with pointless entertainment until you die.

This is the future boomers wanted. At every opportunity they kicked their kids out and lamented their success. Pulled the ladder up after themselves.

The boomers will spend their golden years in a society that hates them and wants them gone asap. Waking up confused in a government nursing home before getting thrown into a wheelchair by impatient niggers and carted into the cafeteria to drool on food made by spics.

They voted for all of it. The "me" generation. The most selfish brain-damaged-by-lead generation that humans will ever produce will die alone, smug with satisfaction that their house (reverse mortgaged to the bank), was bigger than their kids' house.

Part of the bigger issue is that the horrors of corporate medical care keeps people alive waaaayyyy longer than is reasonable or even justified. Let's keep this 90 yeard old neuropathic lady who lacks physical agency alive for as long as possible so we can continue to accumulate inflationary currency notes.

Yeah you're right dude, better head to the nearest jewelry store and spend $10,000 on an engagement ring for the next roastie you see. Sure, you get to spend the next 50 years dealing with her annoyances, but at least you won't be alone at 70! All that time alone to sleep in, game, pursue hobbies, or do whatever you want? Gross!

Just a note to myself so I don't forget my thoughts.

I aint scared of much but I do fear the inevitability of dying alone. It is not death itself that I fear but the years of impotence, indignity and loneliness that precede it. I judge people who bring kids into the world just so they can have a more intelligent than average pet that they can show off and project all their hang-ups and regrets onto... but ultimately I do get the why behind it all

>They don't live with their children anymore. They don't have a local community to contribute to. Nobody respects them since the world has changed so much that their "wisdom" and "knowledge" are useless.

It's not only that. The "sexual revolution" in the 1960s, especially the Hippies, started the worshipping of youth. Michel Houellebecq accurately hinted at how dehumanizing it was to become old in the modern western world. In our modern world, you could be a swinger, bisexual, transsexual, sodomite, or sadomasochist, but it is forbidden to be old. And the loose morals that are so charming, refreshing, and tempting in young people can only become the repulsive behavior of an old pig who refuses to leave the stage.
I think what hit old people the most today is the internet. Wisdom and experience doesn't mean shit anymore, when a 12 year old has access to the same knowledge as an 85 year old. It's even worse, as young people are faster learners and simply outperform older people in processing speed. The other big point that gets overlooked is a demographic one: in the far past, when way more people died to war, poverty and disease, old people were simply more rare, thus more valuable. Today it's the exact opposite: all western countries suffer from a huge burden of old people, who won't die due to modern medicine and relative peace. We suffer from an inflation of geriatric individuals. And just like with any inflated fiat currency in the economic sector, this "oversupply" also makes old people worthless, because there's just so many of them.

Life after 30 is just a slow-motion suicide without children. It's all the negatives of getting old; watching your friends drift away as they start their own families, your parents and sibilings getting old and die, watching everything in your life slowly putter out as the magic fades; without any of the positives of things like family or community to shore you up. Everything rots away and you're left with the bleakness of oblivion, no hope of anything continuing.
