Maimonides wrote about how circumcision is an act of true faith as it requires one to be merciless and harm his own child in such a vulnerable state... well, either Maimonides was naive or maybe we as a society are completely morally bankrupt and apathetic nowadays, since secular people and atheists practice this barbaric tradition without questioning it for a second, with no ounce of compassion for their newborn babies or any protective instinct kicking in before it happens.
