Girls recognizing their own beauty and the craze surrounding it are pretty much ruined for life by 14 or 15. It's only gotten worse with pop culture and social media afflicting them with high time preference, overchoice, and FOMO. They're mortified by settling down too early, like a dude with a tech stock knowing he could cash out now for life-changing amounts of money but it could 10x over the next few years. It's a debilitating psychological complex that makes them completely non-viable as wives and mothers because their beauty and fertility fades long before they'd ever even consider calling it a day. As such, even desirable men who could get short-term relationships with these beautiful women never make anything serious out of it. Even so much as trying to will fill these women with dread and contrarianism, like there must be something secretly wrong with these men for treating them well and trying to trick them out of not milking their beauty for all it's worse as long as they can. These men will eventually recognize that dating down with plainer girls who'll be grateful for the hypergamous opportunity is way less of a headache.

Humans did not evolve for monogamy. It wouldn't make any sense because most of the men died young, in a war with another tribe or while hunting or whatever. As we developed into civilization we recognized that we needed to fight the instinct for polygamy and forced women to each mate with one man.
