I'm surprised people don't talk about this, but we don't put fluoride in the water because of teeth. It's in such a low concentration that it probably has no effect on teeth. We use fluoride because it is safer and more effective than using chloride for decontaminating and killing bacteria. When a city stops using fluoride, they just replace it with bromine or chlorine, which is worse.
