>>512071775Not all that different from USA to be honest outside of some things. Just remembered as a tourist you are likely to visit a few main cities Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto, Hiroshima, Nara.
Tokyo, Osaka have subways that are efficient the outlying areas have trains in, not much different than large cities such as NYC or DC.
Kyoto blew money on a subway that basically only works for government workers and not the rest of their population and they aren't bombed much during WW2 so you are stuck with buses (and where busses go / their time table) also they are overcrowded as they refuse to add/ pay drivers even though there are more and more tourists or even add tour route only busses. So the locals hate tourists more and more.
Hiroshima is decent with subways and trams, for some reason land acquisition must have been fairly easy.
Outside of major cities, shit is falling apart besides just public transit. Think of ghost towns from the old west but now in Japan, with just a few seniors there. Nearest grocery store being 30 minutes away by car and or school.
>>512071751I can only imagine, it has been 6 years since I have been and I can only believe it got worst after COVid. That was when it was roughly 108 yen to the USD and the USD was actually worth more in buying power back then.
Sega doesn't even have arcades anymore (except Joyopolis), there were Nepalis working at a few of the cobini then and I have heard it is much worse now with jeets.
As an extra reminder of the fall riding the ferris / observation wheel at Odaiba you could still see the faded Neo-Geo logo on the roof.
