Because socialization begets professional success. Success is about who you know, so it is deeply ingrained in us to know as many "who's" as possible so that we can reach out to them or be available if they have professional opportunities to offer.

You wouldn't do well here, Jean. I am the same way and was a total loser until I started working in a more social environment. In the span of two years I went from being a nobody with nobody in my life to a low-level management position with a few friend groups. I advise all American anons to truly value the importance of socializing when trying to achieve success.
