Was the government getting involved in nutrition a mistake?
Ever since the government and "health experts" started telling people what and what not to eat people have gotten fatter, sicker, and more unhealthy in general. How did Boomers fall for stuff like the food pyramid?

Nothing wrong with the food pyramid. It's the food that American corporations produce. Full of unregulated chemicals.

To a degree. The primary diet of a human being is going to be fruits and vegetables, followed by proteins like fish and chicken (red meat is only somewhat okay). Carbs are situational. Probably at most a roll of bread a day maybe sometimes none at all. Sugars, oils, and fats should be kept at a bare minimum.

>In 1992 the USDA rolled out its version of the food pyramid. It had four levels. The bottom level included bread, cereal, rice, and pasta, with a recommended 6 to 11 servings per day. The second level was split between a vegetable group (3 to 5 servings per day) and a fruit group (2 to 4 servings per day). The third level specified 2 to 3 daily servings from a group comprising milk, yogurt, and cheese and 2 to 3 daily servings from a group comprising meat, poultry, fish, dry beans, eggs, and nuts. The top level included fats, oils, and candy, which were to be eaten sparingly.

Sweden first published their version of the food pyramid in the 1970's but the US government didn't release it's version of the food pyramid until 1992. So no it is not literally from the 1930s.

All of our food being poisoned in one way or another, including during the farming process, probably has a lot to do with it OP. We don't have real food anymore. Even our farmland is essentially toxic and nutrient depleted.

If that's the case then activity levels have dropped, but I can believe this since food culture tends to be traditional. If this is the case then most Americans are eating as though they were still manual laborers but now we sit at desks all day. I would also suggest the poor state of our mental health, since eating is a common way of dealing with misery

I mean you have to be a retard to believe the foot pyramid

Just think what humans were made to eat and thats what you eat
You drink water, and you eat animal products. Whats so hard about that. Sometimes you add in some fruit, treat it like desert, and as a side you can eat organic vegetables. If you eat like this, you wont have any problems regarding your diet.
But of course if you eat pasta all day and bread, and drink sugary drinks and sneed oils, surely youll get sick.

Just stick to basic organic food, like nature gives you.

It's entirely this.
Have you ever heard how Americans that go to Europe eat all the food they want, and still end up losing weight?
They don't realize it's simply from being forced to walk, instead of drive everywhere. Most of us hardly walk, I'd wager that your average American takes less than 3,000 steps a day.

>Was the government getting involved in nutrition a mistake?
The government getting involved in practically anything is a mistake because it's a group of people that have absolutely no incentive to exceed in their positions nor any punishments for failing. There's no reason for anyone working in the government to do the bare minimum. If they recommend something that turned out to be awful for you for 50 years, what's the punishment? They go "whoops, our bad" and move on, that's it.
Kinda the reason why I'd never want them to run my health either.

They only got involved because big corporations paid them fat stacks of cash to get involved. That should answer your question.

Americans went from being the second tallest and one of the fittest nations in the world to obese manlets in literally three generations because our food is so fucking awful that kids are literally being malnourished while they're still in the womb because the mother's only eat McDonald's and ice cream while pregnant.

Yeah but what you posted was just a response to the Great Depression and food scarcity even though the scarcity was manufactured by the government telling farmers to destroy the food supplies causing starvation. It wasn't really nutrition recommendations per se.

I'm coming to believe that all scarcity is being manufactured because the resulting wealth gradient allows the controllers to stay in control. Imagine if food were so easily abundant that a farmer could make a living selling food for cheap with minimal time spent. While simultaneously, laborers could work few hours for income because their food costs were so low. Basically, people could just do as they please and not be chained to gay institutions in order to barely scrape by.

>the thing you should eat the most of

fucking nigger-jew buffet lobbyists in washington DC were able to sneak this shit into the "food pyramid" because at the time most people were ignorant/didn't care about such a concept

now any time you go to the buffet with as many crab legs, fried shrimp, steak, etc. they have to offer, they ALWAYS force bread on you, delivering it directly to you table, so you fill up on bread instead of the more expensive food offerings you actually came to eat

regarding this bullshit "necessity" for a diet comprised mostly of fucking BREAD - it's bullshit

ESPECIALLY since it was completely unnecessary prior to it's release, when most if not ALL people maintained a somewhat healthy weight, and the idea of even a single obese person, were the stuff of legend, if not relegated to literal
