I’m 27, and while I’m not old, I’m in my third year at university (which makes me a mature age student). I have been aware of the rise of AI and how it will absolutely destroy the minds of the younger generation, but I wasn’t aware until now that even 20-22 year olds are suffering from the rise of this technology.
When I say that these kids are not able to think for themselves, it’s not a joke. My group projects are basically me having a discussion with ChatGPT (or Chat, as they call it) “Lemme ask Chat”, “I’m gonna check with Chat”
They can’t grasp simple concepts. I feel like I’m leading a gang of toddlers through their first year at school. “We want to make a hologram like in Marvel” (proceeds to show me a picture of an iguana in Iron Man).
>Me: Oh great, yeah, that’s a hologram, so we should probably incorporate cameras and sensors into our product
>Them: *stares blankly* Why would we do that
>Me: Well how are we going to scan the item for the hologram
>Them: But cameras and sensors aren’t the product we’re making we’re making a hologram
>Me: Okay yeah, but I think we would need to use them to create the hologram
>Them: *picks up a mouse* But it would be like this thing you pick up and hold and then (pretends to scan something in front of them)
>Me:… yeah… and what would be in that thing
>Them: Idk
>Me: maybe cameras and sensors
One of them put in what I had been saying to ChatGPT and when it put out something she went “Ugh Chat wtf this is way too long, reduce it” And then read out a shortened version of what I had been saying.
I used to think that the biggest divide in society would be homeowners vs rentoids. I was wrong. The divide is between the future "chat is this true" brainrotted underclass vs those that are taught to think for themselves.
