Did Rome fall because of Teutoberg?
One of the main reasons often cited to for the fall of the Western Roman Empire is its failure to integrate the Germanic peoples in the same way that Rome previously did with all other conquered peoples. Integration had the effect of reinvigorating the empire with competent leadership (e.g. the Illyrian Emperors). With that in mind, since the defeat at Teutoberg ended Roman expansion into Germania, isn’t that defeat the cause of the Roman collapse centuries later?

Yes, in fact a Germanic king ended the Western Roman Empire and took Italia.

Italians stayed at home and played stardew valley while barbarians did all the real work of ruling and fighting for the empire. Eventually they said fuck this and with other barbarians ended the rotten scam.

They probably wouldn't have integrated Germania even if they'd won. There's no other defensible frontier until the Elbe and it was wasn't worth the trouble because
>heavily forested which made navigation and integration difficult
>poor and underdeveloped so neither many riches to loot nor many estates to administer
>Germanic tribal alliances were constantly shifting and personality-based so they'd basically have to subdue them all individually
It'd be the same as Britannia but requiring even more effort for even less pay-off

Germanics were aping for hundreds of years and always got their asses kicked. It was literal badluck in a few battles in North Africa and Christaintty making the Romans less effective in killing foreigners some of whom were Christians that did them in. Also bad luck in the 6th century when the Justinian plague wiped out most of the Roman fighting force.

The vandals taking North Africa caused the eventually collapse in the late 5th century and made it easier for other tribes to take some land but the Roman’s were still fighting back with Majorian. The vandals were not seafarers they had help from disaffected Romans in Hispania that were probably the same religion but not ethnic group - arians. The vandals/arians won a few naval battles against the Romans and captured the breadbasket of Carthage and the Maghreb. Without that backbone of cheap food and potential infantry and manufacturing the Romans had a hard time of escaping collapsing. If the opposite happened the Roman’s would not have collapsed. Edward Gibbons makes this claim as well, it’s probably the reason why the Roman’s collapsed. Justinian later on recaptured North Africa and Italy but the empire was decimated by bubonic plague. Again it was all bad luck.

the romans integrated the people they conquered, but they couldnt integrate the people they imported..specially because of their shift to christianism.
Anonymous (ID: Rpw+kYuo) Spain No.512091189
Basically the imported too much during a time they themselves were shifting to something else: christians. Like now we are importing too much while at the same shifting to atheism/satanism.

The reason Rome fell was grain-based socialism for the panem et circensem of the city, which required a lot of money the Empire didn't have and one of the emperors tried to source by raising taxes, which Romans cleverly neglected to pay.
Someone else then decided to debase the denarius which led to devaluation of new mintage and the drastic appreciation of old coins, which were hoarded instead of spent, effectively pulling good currency out of the entire economy.
This was necessary because Roman officials took loans to buy the grain out of Egypt and couldn't afford to pay them anymore.
This cycle repeated until the denarius had hyperinflated to being a joke, Romans starved and everyone with any sense, success and resources abandoned ship, leaving the paupers to rot, rape and riot.
By 410 it was gone. 472AD is the official date because that's when Odoacer just walked into Mordor like it's nothing.

Southern Italians are a lot darker than they used to be. So are native Egyptians. That's all I'm saying.

Roman's stopped joining the military because there was nothing fighting for it anymore. Everyone was being allowed in and given citizenship.
Sounds familiar?

100+ years after Constantine the Great moved the capitol because Rome had become completely corrupt.

No, the failure to integrate proto-krauts refers to the mass migration of whole German tribes in the 4th/5th century AD. They were chased West by Hunnic expansion, and the Roman emperors, eager for more manpower, let them in WITHOUT disarming, disbanding, or Romanizing them. The results were predictable, and while no single event led to the collapse of the Empire this lax migration policy directly led to the battle of Adrianople, which certainly helped seal Romes fate.

my opinion is still that it has fallen since day 1 when Augustus let his wife (or mother? dont remember exactly) assassinated every single one of his hiers and since then the throne had to be inherited throught adoption/infighting rather than someone with the emperor blood

it fell because of the plagues and civil wars
the main reasons other than nukes that the world is this stable today is that we have neither of those...for now
no invasion did to rome what those did, if there were no plagues the romans would had stomped in any conflict against germans huns turks arabs and whatever else mud dwelling or horse fucking barbarians would come
