Das Kapital is mostly a critique of contemporary English industrialisation and Marx's theory about class conflict driving historical changes in organising society is obviously retarded. That said, I'm still trying to figure out class consciousness and class conflicts because they do seem to be a real thing. You can identify a bourgeious class in most developed democracies that violently hates the poor and tries to segregate itself ("good neighbourhoods" and gated communities), while the working class is always more radical but it's energy is dissipated by movements that are organised for bourgeois goals like tax cuts and trade deals. Probably not a coincidence they're the only things Trump delivered on.
I'm beginning to think that Hitler and Mussolini's belief in class unity was idealism, or that at least you need to impose class unity by having the working class and petty bourgeois leaders dominate the system. That's how National Socialism, Fascism and Leninism worked in practice.
