this. i want a career. i want the world to want my skills. i am so sick of being told "wow i didn't know you knew that" or "i didn't know you could do that" because i rarely have a chance to show what i'm capable of. i'm just supposed to be a dad and have a job. parents with loads of connections to people who have swathes of money and hire loads of people, and the career advice i get is 'figure it out, you're an adult'
grandpa got dad his job, and he got sick and retired in his 40's.
mom married my stepdad and is now the accountant for the farm he inherited.
