Any soverign country has the right to associate with any country they choose. Cuba chose to be friends with the societ union and place nukes there. That was Cuba's right. Russia wasn’t “provoked.” They use the excuse of “NATO imperialism” (which isn’t really a thing since NATO is a defensive alliance, not an expanding empire) to justify their own imperialism. They did this with Georgia in 2008, Crimea in 2014 and Ukraine in 2022. Russia is a thief nation that’ll keep invading parts of eastern Europe as long as they can get away with it
