I thank my grandmother every day for her selling me her house in 2000 for $1. She gave me security, and gave me a chance to save up and invest massive amounts of money over time since my yearly cost to simply live under my roof was just a few thousand a year. I could lose my job right now and still have enough money to stay in my house for the next 5 years. All thanks to her.

I fear for my friends who rent. They are a couple bad weeks away from being homeless.

The nearest trailer park where my brother in law lives charges him 750 in lot fees a month. His rent for his trailer is 1400. That's 2150 a month he pays to live in a home he doesn't own on land someone else owns that he lets him rent. I pay less than that an entire year, plus I at least can do work to my yard and my home without having to get a written permission slip from the trailer park owner.

I bought a foreclosure during covid, (Thats 100% cash, no bank loans or morgages allowed).I have done nothing in the past 5 years and the 'value' has already 3x.. My property taxes have already 3x too.
