I'm from Turkey. Let me tell you what “free healthcare” actually feels like.

“omg it’s so cool you don’t pay for the doctor”
Shut the hell up. I pay over 45% of my salary in taxes for this garbage. HALF MY INCOME GONE so I can sit in a crowded, smelly hospital for 3 hours to get told to drink water and sleep more.

Yeah, it’s “free” — if you ignore the fact that the state bleeds you dry, and in return you get rushed through like cattle by a doctor who hasn’t had a proper break in 10 years.

“America needs to be more like Europe or *insert another socialist shithole here*”
Lmao, no you don’t. Our best doctors either run private clinics (so they don’t have to deal with the broken system) or leave the country entirely. If you want actual care, you pay again out of pocket, even though you’re already taxed into oblivion.

Meanwhile you whiny Americans complain about a $100 urgent care bill and think communism is the solution. At least when you pay, you GET service. You think it's bad now? Wait until you get the government telling you to come back in 6 months because your “non-emergency” kidney pain isn’t life-threatening enough yet.

I didn’t slave through 16 years of school and start a life just to fund some diabetic chain-smoker’s fifth checkup this week because he’s “worried” his knee hurts when it rains.

There is no utopia. There is no “free.” There’s just a bunch of people like me losing HALF our income to keep a bloated, inefficient system on life support so politicians can score moral points.

But sure, keep begging for “free” stuff, America. Enjoy the line. Bring a tent.

Same here, you just get a bill for 170 thousand US Dollars, and you either use your insurance, go bankrupt, or let it be sent to collections or negotiate with the cost-shifting lady at the hospital for how many pennies on the dollar you can afford.

It still adds up to half or three quarters of your income, even here in the first world country.

Now, that all being said, you need a topflight hip replacement, lung replacement, cyborg AI powered eyeball replacement, it bumps the bill up to a half million, but if you've got insurance all you have to pay is the $9000 deductible. But you have to have a good job.

So it's a 3rd world country in the USA, but if you know how to zig and zag, you can get what you need.

Yeah, I have a great uncle who was worth a couple million. His wife got sick and he spent it all on her cancer treatment.

Ended up moving back to Canada after she died. He's now dirt poor, while he used to live in a nice house in Florida.

Not really. If you're seriously and gravely ill here, you're treated promptly, and for "free". If you're not super sick, good luck getting quick treatment, though.

At least I've saved probably tens of thousands over the years on various treatments. My dad also got open heart surgery for free, so that saved him a cool half million.

Yeah but Turkey is a shithole. The USA is the most powerful nation humanity has ever created.
We already spend like 3x more on healthcare per capita than like any other country.

Socialised healthcare doesn't work when it treats unnecessary cases, self-inflicted ill-health, or those with mutational loads and shit genes in general. There is no cure for being excessively old and decrepit, or generally unhealthy (smokers, drug users, vegans, fatties etc.), let alone inherently dysgenic. The majority of people currently receiving healthcare should be denied altogether. The only exception for providing healthcare to the sort of aforementioned people should be for euthanasia.

In most Western countries, 60% of all medical expenses are incurred by people in their last year of life.

How to fix the healthcare budget in the West:
1. Stop providing healthcare to such old people and let them die anywhere from a few years to a few months earlier.
2. Stop paying doctors and other glorified "medical professionals" increasingly high salaries.
3. Exclude non-Whites from healthcare altogether.

In the netherlands you have to pay a part of the treatment yourself called own risk (eigen risico) this essentially fixes all issues with healthcare as people then dont overcrowd it as it costs them money, which makes it cheaper and therefore costing less tax aswell as the tax decrease from the own risk addition. Its as usual with the dutch the superiour system

>Taxpayer funded healthcare works much better in civilized countries.

Yeah? And you think Canada is "civilized"? LMAO. Bro, your healthcare system is a meme. You brag about it like it’s Switzerland but can’t even get an MRI without a six-month wait and a permission slip from your family doctor, who’s probably on vacation for the next 2 months anyway.

>"But at least we don’t go bankrupt from a broken arm!"

Cool. You just die slowly on a waitlist instead. But hey, no bill, right?

You think Turkey’s system is bad? You guys are literally just a colder, more polite version of the same dysfunction. Overworked staff, understaffed hospitals, people crossing the border to the U.S. for real treatment when things actually get serious. Tell me again how “civilized” it is to wait a year to get your hernia surgery.

Basically. After a certain age, people should be kicked off insurance and should pay out of pocket. HSA accounts should be mandatory at birth, which is what Trump is inching closer to.

Turkey is a 3rd world shithole. Half your income is like $8. Still, 1/3 of the money spent on the payroll I run goes to insurance companies that make us pay more when we get sick. I would guess we are at about 1/2 our income and we see an insurance agent when we are sick.

Or denied altogether, because the resources going to them are wasteful and better used on the young who may need it.
