Am I the only one who thinks that the Wikipedia article titled "List of countries by Human Development Index" has a politically and racially biased list? I mean, the actual, official list, not just the Wikipedia article itself.
It doesn't make sense that Peru is slightly more developed than Mexico and right below an emerging world power like the P.R.C., which is also right below freaking Thailand. Love it or hate it, the P.R.C. is a nation with the most geniuses in the world, with advanced projects of R&D regarding technology and science, with a lot of buildings that often look (although cheaply and probably tofu-quality) more futuristic than quality and beautiful Japanese buildings; and that Japan sits at position #23...
There's an obvious pattern where the top 5 most developed countries are Nordic (except for Switzerland who's most famous invention is the cuckoo clock and where the World Economic Forum is located, and Germany), and the least developed are African. The racists of this website will agree with this pattern, and I'm not denying these countries are very evidently opposed in terms of human development, but...
Who's calculating all these factors comprising human development index? How are these calculations done and with what amount of data? How are these calculations made in such a way they're as free of human error and bias as possible?
When you start taking a look at the actual list and question it, it doesn't completely seem to add up. Again, it doesn't make sense that freaking Kuwait is 12 or so positions higher than Russia, for example. And questioning these obvious inconsistencies with some common sense should also be applicable to the list's extremes.
Like my country, right? Mexico. It doesn't make sense that after 2018 the HDI has actually gotten higher when anyone who's not a 4-T fanatic will be able to tell you, from personal experience, that the country has gotten worse in different ways.
