Why do immigrants treat the U.S. like an economic zone and then dip?
Serious question: why do so many immigrants come to the U.S., make their money, and then retire back in their home countries? They benefit from the economy here, but then don’t stick around to contribute long-term or assimilate fully. And even worse — they rarely push for American-style policies back home.
If they hate the corruption or lack of opportunity in their countries, why don’t they actually do something about it politically? Seems like the only reason their home countries are poor is because the governments are corrupt (in the 3rd world), or bloated with unsustainable welfare (in parts of Europe). It’s not rocket science.
If they helped clean up their own countries, there’d be no need to come here in the first place. But instead, they come here, make money, send it back, and we get left with divided communities and economic drain.
Why does no one talk about this openly?
