It depends on the society. If taxes are taken out of a persons checkbook, and laws written, then there is are agreed upon terms to adhere to at a minimum by the state and it's people.

God grows food out of the ground. It literally takes 0 effort. God provide clean water. God provides the means for me to make shelter.
No I am not entitled to other peoples food but when the society takes that ability for me to sustain myself away from me then obviously I will do what I have to do to survive.

It usually takes some sort of effort to grow enough food for a year, depending where you are. There still are places you can go to be self-sufficient on your own in the woods (not many).

My point is the government does not exist for your benefit, and therefore doesn't care enough all about what you're entitled to. The only reason it gives you any "rights" at all, is in hope you don't despose of them.

Public funds are not to be wasted on entitlements. They're for spending on corrupt contracts to politically connected businesses only. At least, that's how they do it where I live.

I say every citizen gets a free robot slave that has access to the shared knowledge of all mankind. No other entitlements. At all. The robot slave can do all the shit work, as well as provide basic healthcare.

Ideally, the global population falls to 1% of its current levels, and we have a single global government that is only responsible for coordination in times of crisis and maintaining public spaces and infrastructure. And otherwise they stfu and stay in their lane.

We all spread out and own massive estates. We settle disputes the old fashioned way -- murder. Or diplomacy, if you can swing it. But probably murder.

Yes, but I think its done extremely inefficiently and doesn't even help much in many cases. Like handing a retiree $2000/month and sending them out to try and rent an apartment when average rent is $1700/month or some such is just not a recipe for success. The entire point of entitlements is to make sure people who can't provide for themselves are provided for, and its not doing a very good job of that.

Society is a burden that has to be maintained and thus there is going to be some entitlements
