way too often, something must be dead nearby.
flying insects are in trouble i believe that the danger is from drowning PFAS are decreasing the cohesion of water meaning that it is not beading off the tiny things but drowning them.

My daughter is keen on insects, so they get called out to me often. Today was both types seen in this photo (not mine). She'd been checking the milkweed for monarchs...

Amazing that you say that, I could have sworn that these insects could almost stand on the water when I was younger but now I just see them drowning constantly.

About two hours ago. It got eaten by a female kookaburra. I’ve got a pair of those cunts outside and they’re fucking assholes. The regular type, not the blue wing. Or the other one.

Butterflies have powdery wing scales that get fucked up by moisture.
That's why Venomoth has Shield Dust.

I’m in the Midwest and I still see butterflies but when I was a kid monarch butterflies would migrate through here, there’d be thousands that would almost blackout the sky but now I see it only happens on the west coast now. The Midwest isn’t warm enough for them now.

Last summer. Very rarely see them where I live but I think that's just because my yard is not a hospitable environment for them.
When was the last time you saw a walking stick? Used to see them fairly often as a kid (in the 80s) but haven't seen one in over a decade now...maybe even two decades.
I do see butterflies fairly often, though this summer it seems like there are less. If you count those little white butterflies though, (which I thought those were cabbage moths and not butterflies) I saw one yesterday.
