My dad moved us kids to a multi-cultural immigrant neighborhood in the year 2000. It didn't feel like America anymore. The lack of big mature trees - the kind you only find in a European White town - really made me feel alienated.

I went to Colombia around ten years ago maybe. It doesn't matter why.

Point is Colombia felt alot more like America , or should I say America felt a lot more like Colombia, than I was comfortable with. That was one of the radicalization points that got me where I am today.

No shit? Same, fren. I was living in my car in 2017 for a year, going parking lot to parking lot, selling plasma for gas and food, working any job I could and nearly dying when winter came. In a way, I am glad it happened because I felt I could survive anything and have nothing to lose.

Colombia had the same shopping malls, and hippie dippy stores selling crystals and hemp clothes that you have in the United States. It's just all the exteriors of the tall buildings were filthy, like they'd never been power washed, and the people drove like maniacs.

That's another sign of the times.
I'm seeing a lot more "Latin American road etiquette" lately. It's routine now to see someone cut across lanes to take an exit too late after they've already passed the exit markings. Scooters are everywhere. Helmet laws are no longer enforced apparently. I see whole families crammed onto electric scooters. Little kids with no helmets hanging off of their parents backs and sitting in their parent's laps with no cares in the the world.

Now dial it back al little bit , compensate for the real world, and that's what America was like. Commies would always mock the "this is what they took from you" pictures of people barbecuing in the 50 saying they're just old advertisements, but the thing about advertisements is that they have to be relatable.

Advertisements and entertainment reflect the dominant culture of the time because that is what people relate to.. So if advertisements and culture from the past were predominantly White and wholesome, that is because that is what America was predominantly like.
