For me it started when I discovered an obscure video store cleverly disguised as "The Pop Shoppe". Within said video rental establishment was a bizarre collection of rental videos. Faces of Death, I spit on your grave etc. That is were I came across a movie from Japan called "Shogun Assassin". I probably watched it 50 times over the next few years. That led to Zatoichi, Abarenbo Shogun etc. Of course Akira, Ghost in the shell, Ninja Scroll etc were in there as well. All of the Kurosawa films, Donzoko being my favorite film. If I had to give you and answer it would be that I think the japs make some damn good cinema.

I wanted to be Sonny Chiba when I grew up but like a real ninja.
If not for the Japanese, I would never have studied the occult, or learned to Live and Walk in shadows.

Ah yes, of course. The ninja phase. The Shinobi no Mono movies were awesome. Kino.

I haven't. Anime isn't really my thing. I like the long running tv dramas set in the edo period. I can't think of the name for them.

Unironic weeaboo here. Japan is just really cool. Cool sounding language. Cool cartoons and comics. Respectful culture. Great food. Hopefully I'm born Japanese in my next life.

Seven Samurai?

I know it gets a rap for being for children etc etc, but you are really missing out on some good edo period stuff by avoiding it. Lots of good samurai/ninja stuff, but I support people liking what they want to.

Japan sucks.

It's a dump like the rest of Asia. It's overcrowded and the people live like insects, the food is shit, the women are ugly, the people work themselves to death and have no rights, the countries are basically mafia states ruled by untouchable families, and so on.

All the good shit about Japan or Asia more generally came from somewhere else and they simply mastered it.

>minding your business is the societal norm
>high sense of duty to the nation
>clean (before the browns came on boats)
>low crime (before browns came on boats)

I like places where people are cordial, but still mind their business.
