Anaverage guy did everything he was told to do by society.
Work hard. Persevere through failures. Save and invest. Get married. Retire. Enjoy.
Nothing brought him joy and he was just gambling away his wealth because he didn't know what else to do with the remainder of his time.
One day he slips in the casino and breaks his leg.
Sues the casino for damages but loses.
Gets fucking pissed off for being lied to by society.
Working hard didn't bring a sense of purpose. It was a lie
Persevering through failures didn't bring a sense of achievement. It was a lie
Saving and investing didn't bring a sense or prosperity. It was a lie
Getting married didn't bring a sense of love or companionship. It was a lie
Retirement didn't bring any sense of freedom or fulfillment. It was a lie.
Nothing brought him joy despite being told by society that doing all of the above will lead to happiness.
Finally, seeking damages through though the court system didn't bring a sense of justice. It was a lie
At that point he saw no point continuing to live a lie. He was going to kill himself but not without letting the world know how he felt about having lived a lied to all his life and ending up with nothing to show for.
Anyone who lives a lie is only perpetuating the lie even further, and society is largely made up of the people who lives lies and perpetuates lies.
Looks for a mass gathering of people that he can light up as a goodbye ceremony of sorts.
Performs a one man gun salute in his own honor towards the people who gathered for a country music concert.
That is the best screenplay I can come up with.
Unfortunately, the person who knows the real story took it with him to death, so we can only speculate, and you just decide on whatever speculation that appeals to you.
