Not near as bed as expected

Also been all over Chicago, lived a year homeless in Louisville, KY. 4 months in Atlanta, 2 months in Jacksonville FL, and 2 years in Nashville.

How do they treat homeless Americans in Chicago and Illinois in general? Are you fed enough, do you sleep in a shelter or just outside?

Public services are absolutely shit. I thought from the news they'd be great but terrible. Getting into a shelter is next to impossible and there are almost no food kitchens. Getting EBT is easy though. I have no idea where the money is going but it's not going to homeless or even illegals

People in Chicago are so fucking nice and will randomly give you food throughout the day if you don't look/act scary. Will often hand money without having to panhandle

In other cities a did day labor to support my alcoholism. Here I just got a job working as a concierge at a hotel (bath in lake Michigan, clothes in storage unit)...I save up money then go on 3 month binders

Been there. Former homeless alcoholic here. Almost died from DTs probably like 20 times. Went in debt almost 60 grand, destroyed my health. Rehab multiple times. Jail twice. Now make half a mil a year and own a very nice house. Been sober for years. If you want some tips I’m happy to help. You probably already know this, but you’re killing yourself with the drinking. Moderation is simply not possible for me. A liter is roughly 25 drinks. I have at least that every day and piggy back it with wine and beer. Easily over 200 drinks every week. My last e.r. visit I walked into with a .65

Kek I had a series of white collar jobs (ended up getting fired from them all) when I was drinking hard and I was in the same boat. Had some weekends I’d probably put down 200+ just from Friday to Sunday. Inevitably this would lead to the detox on benzos and IV/get fired/bullshit my way into a new job cycle. Then I’d relapse again and repeat. Many alcoholics are very effective in other aspects of our lives, and we are often very convincing liars.

I don't drink too cope with anything that has happened to me, I just find life to be so insanely boring sober. i went to aa for 13 years and cycled in and out , didnt actually get or stay sober until i quit the program, now im almost at 4 years.

Hop youre still around OP. Reading through your posts and I was like you. I have no mental illnesses, nothing to hide from, no depression etc...I just got the alcoholic gene. I get one drink in me and bam, switch gets flipped...I lose 3 months. I was also able to drink insane quantities, way more than the average person and im a skinny guy. Anyhow I've been sober for over a decade now and all it came down to was not picking up that first drink. I just dont do it. Been through a ton of stress in these last 10 years, some real horrible stuff. But I made a decision to never pick up that first drink. If you can do that, you'll be back to normal super fast. I'm the Inspiration Cafe Chicagoan guy above. I attest. A couple needs 300k annual to live middle class and put a little money away here. I earn well more than 500k per annum and am single. There is no rhyme nor reason to comp except to hop into a role where you are greatly valued. Keep moving until find it and then keep it while looking actively for the next jump. You don't need a degree typically, although I have quite a few in technical and legal. Go for it if that's important to you. Beware you might become a substance abuser in the process however.
