Things are looking really bleak for freedom in cyberspace. I've been following the issue for 20 years and it's never been this bad.

There was a lot of pushback before but it's not the same now. Groups that would raise hell before are either sidelined or even happy to give their freedom away to prevent cheaters in online games/protect kids from social media/stop predators/avoid fake bot traffic/reduce terrorism+extremism/etc.

The free+open internet had a good run, at least.

having just recently built my own gaymen pc it's crazy how far along the pre build market has come. the prices actually aren't that bad until you realize what parts are skimped on and the bios is configured like shit which made me realize people are actually buying these pre builts and know nothing about their rigs

Secure boot (on Windows) also makes it so you can't load unsigned drivers or kernel modules. Of course the chinese rootkit anti-cheat that comes with the game it approved by Microsoft and works fine.

Secureboot prevents you from running any OS that isn't OEM Windows. You wanted to encrypt the boot disk with AES-256 and not use the plaintext fucking password called Bitlocker that can be cracked in under 30 seconds? That doesn't sound very Windows to me.
