>>Fire a bunch of people for doing nothing
That's not what they did though, they fired a bunch of people on probation which means they were either new employees or had been promoted into a new position for doing a good job but had less protections in a new position, then lied on their paperwork to say they were fired for poor performance. Then when the courts made them re-hire everyone DOGE offered everyone 6 months of pay to quit, which most did.
Speaking from experience everyone I know that lost their job was a low-paid seasonal scrubbing shit off the walls of campground bathrooms looking to start a career outdoors, not even getting benefits. Now they'll be replaced with contractors that cost $100,000k/year per head if the national forests don't get sold off. The chief of the Forest Service is even begging fired probational employees to come back and fight fire this summer, lol

You're retarded but not entirely wrong. If they had gone through a normal RIF process like Clinton in the 90's it would have been cheaper, faster and targeted areas that actually needed cuts instead of just blindly firing people and having to beg them to come back when it turns out they're important.
