That's not what they did though, they fired a bunch of people on probation which means they were either new employees or had been promoted into a new position for doing a good job but had less protections in a new position, then lied on their paperwork to say they were fired for poor performance. It is a lot easier to have people voluntarily resign with severance than it is to fire them outright. Activist judges are already fighting their firing. This was the best option to remove them from the government. Regardless, the budget for this year was already set. They money was never coming back even if they were first on trump’s day one. Now they do not need to be carried on next year’s budget. That saves money.
