It's tragic that burgundy didn't manage to survive but made up countries with no reason to exist like Belgium did.
How the fuck did the French never conquer the french speaking part of belgium? So much hype about being the dominant continental power for hundreds of years yet they never even managed to even unify the speakers of their tongue under their nation state (unless you count the napoleonic period).
