"AI" we have is unable to understand anything, it's a way to pour billions of dollars into automatizing basic cognitive processes human brains can do for pennies. Our current "AI" is just a pattern recognition and creation machine.

It can be useful as a tool for researchers and workers in fields where pattern recognition / creation are needed but otherwise it's an incredibly wasteful gimmick only capable of vomiting generic slop out of existing content. It literally doesn't matter if AI can "write an article" faster than a human if no one cares to read it because it lacks original insight and is only stitched from already existing, human made, articles. It can only obscure quality stuff by printing out slop at unprecedented rate
