. 22lr has its uses. Better to use that as your hunting/survival gun so you can save heavier calibers for defense in a SHTF scenario. It's plenty deadly with good shot placement if you don't have anything bigger. Shot placement is just a foreign concept to most modern shooters. Automatic and semiautomatic are tactically essential because it's what everyone uses now and you need the rate of fire for maneuver, but a lot of the old boys like Hitler were at least correct insofar that automatics would make us too dependent on ammo capacity and degrade the quality of marksmanship overtime.

The barrel will certainly do it, however, he failed to mention that you need to buy target grade ammo, or just use CCI standard velocity and hope you get lucky lol. Most factory ammo isn't as consistent as you'd think and it makes a big difference, especially on 100 yrd shots with .22.

Also, it will take practice. Seeing the target at 100 yards through tech sights isn't hard... holding a rifle offhand, steady enough to keep it in you're sight picture, isn't so easy (for me at least).

I went to a long range shooting course once. There were a lot of guys with tricked out 700's, fluted bbls on Macmillan stocks etc...they were (jokingly) talking shit on a couple dudes that had basic bitch savages with the homebrew glass bedding showing. Turns out, those were some of the instructor's friends. Those dudes were dropping 600 yrd shots off the bat lol.

So, even a $350 savage bbl is accurate AF with match grade ammo. Modern barrel manufacturing is way better than most shooter's capabilities.

The crown is very important, yes, but some tooling chatter in the barrel anywhere has the potential to damage the jacket, slightly cant the bullet so it never exits the crown dead straight to begin with, and it also builds up fouling very quickly. Precision in record setting rifles starts at the back of the stock and goes all the way to the crown. An issue anywhere can make a huge difference.
