It's really low effort. The humor and dialog is totally different from the old series. There's a lot of awkward and unnecessary exposition after jokes. There's a fixation on politics and popular culture that did not exist in the original series.

There are probably two reasons for this:
1. Mike Judge has standards and didn't want to sell out to robots
2. Mike Judge was forced into some pro-job contract that they are not allowed to do so (simlar to the writers strike about the use of AI for writing).

Either way, I find it commendable. Unrelated, but I've flown three times in the last month. My local airport has no more check-in terminals and 6 people working behind the airport counter. It's awesome and I will give up convenience for more jobs.

KOTH for me aged way better than the Simpsons and Family Guy (both which are unwatchable garbage now). Probably because it succeeded in maintaining a certain level of believability and maturity throughout its original run. I personally like that Hank never "sold out" in the original, but in the reboot I'm afraid that he will cave at some point.

I haven't watched the show, so I can't speak to that, but if that guy is ass then that sucks. It's the same thing to me with Futurama; I enjoyed the new content, but Billy West does not sound the same and neither do most of his characters. It's a very immersion-ruining experience.

Seeing other commenters say Connie is a whore is confirming my worst fears. They're going to compromise the original characters just for cheap forays into feminism and other jewish bullshit. Connie was funny because she was the uptight stereotypical Asian kid who would sometime snap. Dale wasn't just a crazy kook, the funny part of his character was that he was right like 1/5 of the time and got the guys out of some sticky situations. I also picked up on the "masks are good" faggotry in the first episode (Hank called not wearing masks "nonsense"). Really worried, going to watch episode 2 tonight but I have extremely low expectations now.

The voice for Dale is the old voice actor for Kahn, watch they replaced with that undying Chinese guy from the daily show because they wanted an Asian to voice an Asian.

Also Bobby is too confident and put together to come off as a 21 yo. It's not believable given his character development in the original. Part of his charm was that he was weird and would get interested in weird activities, but was strangely good at it. He was awkward but somehow charmingly navigated social situations. I'm not going to believe that he just somehow becomes Chad Thundercock with his own restaurant at 21 and sleeps with a different hot girl every episode. It'd be a lot more believable if he was still in chef school or something.

I tried to watch a Treehouse of Horror from a few years ago that everyone was screaming was "OMG BETTER THAN DA ORIGINUL!!!" and it was mediocre and boring. The original KOTH, while satirizing conservative rural culture, still had a certain level of respect for the way of life that made it endearing. There was a level of understanding to all of those jokes that allowed everyone to enjoy it, even if it was at their own expense, because elements of the jokes were true and reflected the reality of that life.

The reality is that a new KOTH can't be good, because the climate in hollywood and the left in general as shifted so much that any kind of understanding of the other side would be deemed heresy. You cant fund or release something that humanizes conservative rural whites in the modern era, without facing the repercussions of modern era hollywood. Without that nugget of truth and understanding the jokes turn from light hearted and playful to sinister, mean spirited, and no longer fun watch.

It's a little more woke than the original run, but it tries to be 'le based centrist'. The writing is actually pretty good so far, but Dale's voice is AWFUL. Ruins every scene he's in, sad to say. The lines are good, it's just the delivery is atrocious. I guess the new guy voices him in the later episodes of the new season, supposedly he does a better job.

Kahn and Ted Wassanasong new voice actors are completely unrecognizable. For Dales voice they probably could have done a back story about throat cancer or something from smoking. They put zero effort in getting their voices to match. Best episode I would say was the Stock Market and new business episode. Every other episode felt like a pale imitation of the original seasons. Only reason to watch it would be to appreciate the previous seasons. RIP Lucky and Luanne

It was about as good as one of the more mediocre seasons of the original run. Nothing to get excited about, but not nearly as bad as I had expected it to be. The worst parts were the new voice actors for Dale and Khan, and Connie is now the stereotypical, high-body count, low happiness college liberal.
If you liked the original, you may as well get watching it out of the way. There were enough decent parts to put up with the rest.

I watched the first episode, I laughed a few times at Hank getting pissed off at changes in the states. Pretty much filled the void, not really wanting to watch more.

It's just kindof boring, besides a handful of a couple good episodes from way back in the day and the few memes that came from this show like pocket sand, also its not as conservative as i remembered when i tried re watching it a few years ago

It feels like the latter seasons of KoTH, which isnt so bad. Bobby being shown to be the voice of reason that's navitaging through his life as a 21 year old is very well done as well. Overall it's well worth watching if you thought the latter seasons of KoTH was worth watching because it feels about there quality wise. It's not awful either and they find their footing by the last episode so the next season is likely gonna be better.
