My old coworker told me a story about those marks from when he was in Vietnam. He was a truck driver and a convoy was driving though one of the pacified villages. On the side of the dirt road was a pile of dead, nude children. The convoy stopped and they had the translator ask the village people WTF is the deal with the pile of dead children. Well, during the war the US Army did a "Win hearts and minds" campaign, where the US Army adminstered free vaccines to village children. When the VC found out about it, and the Americans left, they went to every house/hut and demanded to see who had been vaccinated. All the children with that mark were shot and killed, and then piled up near the road to serve as a warning to everyone in the area. Don't collaborate with the enemy. Don't accept any benefits from a foreign invasion force.
I couldn't ever imagine the Germans ever doing such a thing after WWII.

tl;dr it's like six needles at once, and it fucks you up for a bit. Mine got particularly bad and started producing pus. My dad got worried about it and helped clean it. By squeezing it out. It hurt bad but at least it was clean after that.
