Also important to understand the distinction between western work culture and eastern work culture. In the west (in America), its influenced almost entirely by Protestant work ethic and Calvinism specifically, "make work" culture not borne out of national identity, or saving face like eastern culture, but make work for its own sake. A person's entire worth in America is dictated by how much work they make.
In America even if you are the most logical, the healthiest and most productive compared to any of your peers, if you are not physically observed as 'making work' at all times, you are persona non grata, you can and will be let go for one or more persons who are less productive than you are, but can make an appearance of 'make work' better than you can.
I learned this hard lesson many times, but the reality didn't set in until I was in the army, where as a private I could clean everything spotless and do more than what I was asked, but if I stopped (with everything and more being done) someone would be around to dress me down for 'not working', if it was a good sergeant he would tell me to pick up a broom and at least pretend to work so no one sees me "not working". American labor culture is objectively just mental illness, back in the day it bore fruit but today its rot.
