In 2020, Trump appointed acting DA of New York's south district Audrey Strauss released a memo declaring in no uncertain terms that Ghislane Maxwell was willing to and had already lied under oath in order to avoid consequences for her crimes. This memo had the full backing of the Trump administration's Department of Justice.
Now Trump's administration is calling for Maxwell to testify about her involvement with Epstein, and there is a report circulating that during a private meeting with Trump's personal lawyer turned deputy US Attorney General Todd Blanche, Maxwell implied President Trump was innocent of any wrongdoing.
What has changed to make the word of serial perjurer Ghislane Maxwell suddenly trustworthy in the eyes of the Trump administration and MAGA?
AG Memo:

Portion of relevant text:
>Moreover, the defendantโs willingness to brazenly lie under oath about her conduct,
including some of the conduct charged in the Indictment, strongly suggests her true motive has been and remains to avoid being held accountable for her crimes
>As alleged in the Indictment, in 2016, when the defendant was given the opportunity to address her conduct with minors in the context of a civil suit, she lied repeatedly. Those lies are, of course, the subject of two counts of perjury, and they evidence her willingness to flout the law in order to protect herself. The defendantโs lies under oath should give the Court serious pause about trusting this defendant
