Collapsing Israel Forms Geriatric IDF Battalion
Gonna need some more diapers:

"Against the background of the manpower crisis: the IDF is establishing a new reserve battalion - for those aged 50 and over
The IDF authorizes the establishment of a reserve battalion for the ages of 50–55 to be integrated into border protection tasks. Behind the move – is a widespread public push, including MK Almog Cohen, with the recruitment potential at more than ־3,000 fighters

The IDF continues to expand the circle of combat: according to the evening's publication in i24news, the Planning Division of the General Staff approved the official establishment of the "Atzmon Battalion" – Infantry Unit Reserves Dedicated to fighters aged 50–55. The battalion, which began its journey at the beginning of the "war"Iron swords"As an irregular voluntary force, it will now move into an operational path and be converted into a combat unit within the framework of the defense system of the country's borders.

Potential of thousands of fighters
According to the approved model, the battalion will consist of older fighters with a combat background, where the age of command can reach even beyond ־55. The IDF estimates are that the real recruitment potential for this age group stands at over ־3,000 fighters – personnel who can reinforce the IDF in the rear and deep, especially against the background of the ongoing manpower crisis since the outbreak of the war.

The move received public and political support, among others from Knesset member Almog Cohen who worked to promote the initiative in the IDF and relevant government ministries. Now, after formal approval, the battalion is expected to prepare for dedicated formation training to examine the organizational and operational framework, after which it will be integrated into operational tasks in a departmental framework under the Home Front Command. The IDF, on the other hand, stated that the work of the headquarters to complete the process of forming the battalion had not yet been completed.

>Those numbers must be bullshit then if they are doing this

Yup. And there's only 4-4.5 million Jews in Israel, is my estimate. Quite possibly less.

Jews have huge incentive to exaggerate Jewish population numbers to avoid Apartheid label.

Israel's borders are wide open and this geriatric brigade and the ultra-orthodox brigade are supposed to prevent Israel from being overrun, all while they escalate hugely in Gaza.

They're so fucked.

In his recent public sermon, Rabbi Landau warned that “if the State of Israel declares war on Torah scholars, the global Haredi Jewish community will rise up in protest.” Following this week’s events, his aides stated, “The State of Israel has declared war on the sons of Torah. The Haredi world will launch an unprecedented global struggle.”
The comments come amid renewed political maneuvering over Israel’s military conscription law, after Likud MK Boaz Bismuth replaced Yuli Edelstein as chair of the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee. The government is expected to revisit legislation that would determine the status of ultra-Orthodox exemptions from military service.
Earlier Wednesday, Bismuth met with representatives of reservists' advocacy groups, who expressed deep concern over potential compromises. “We presented our outline and red lines,” they said in a joint statement, “including a clear demand for full transparency, direct dialogue with the serving public and a refusal to accept any backroom deals.”
“We are here as long as there is a real, open and serious discussion — and only if we are fully involved in shaping the law,” the statement added. “We will not allow legislation that further entrenches draft evasion at the expense of those who shoulder the burden.”

Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi: This is not the first time they have tried to disarm Hezbollah, and it is clear—they have seen what the resistance's weapons can do. They think they can implement their plan following the blows Hezbollah has suffered, but Shiism in Lebanon is still at the peak of its power, and Hezbollah has repaired and restored all the blows it suffered in the war, reorganized its forces, and replaced commanders. It has enough strength to defend itself. We support from afar any decision Hezbollah makes, but we will limit ourselves to support and will not intervene.

"There have never been such relations between the echelons. There has never been such an irresponsible political echelon. There has never been a prime minister who has the highest interest, the endless continuation of the war, is fundamentally opened to the interest of the country he heads. There has never been such a backlog of ministers who combine basic ignorance with empty rhetorical and, for some, a messianic worldview. Zamir, who seems to have taken office with a suspended disability that this is the case, seems to have accepted it.
.....
The room Zamir will enter is completely different. It will be nothing more than a low-level political gathering, attended by people who are completely ignorant, who do not even pretend that they came to hear arguments and discuss them seriously. The prime minister openly disdains their knowledge and level, while unprecidedly submitting to their political threat to end his days in office. The defense minister exists directly on Twitter, where he is busy posting about meaningless instructions he gave and attacks on the system he is in charge of.

What is at stake is critical. It is easy to get hung up on the heartbreaking story (not all hearts) of the hosts. But even without it, the "occupation of Gaza" has far-reaching implications for the country and for the IDF. The term "occupation of Gaza" is written in quotation marks because it has no meaning that can be translated into military action. In its full sense, complete control of the territory and responsibility for the fate of two million people stricken with despair and hunger and the establishment of a military government, it will finally turn Israel into a leper state, endanger its economy and place its exhausted army, both regular and reserve, in situations that will endanger its morale, discipline, cohesion and ability to function. In this context too, it seems that Zamir has shed any illusions with which he entered office and is finally looking reality in the eye.

"So what should Zamir do? Turn things around, because that's the only way to turn the world upside down. Deny Netanyahu the degree of freedom he wants. After making all the clear implications in explicit words, he should demand from the cabinet and the prime minister what prime ministers hate the most: an explicit decision, after a legally binding vote, that spells out down to the last detail what the "occupation of Gaza" is: how far you order me to go, and what the army must do once it gets there. If the meaning is a military government, the cabinet decision will state these things explicitly and will not talk about an alternative that I, as the commander of the army, tell you does not exist. The budgets will be spelled out and where they will come from. The number of reserve days required, the extension of regular service, everything.

"It was announced at the end of 2024 that 58-year-olds will also be recruited. There is a shortage of soldiers. There is no place for organized evasion. Even the big dodger can enlist"

article from Dec 2024: 17.12.24
"In the background of the rush and attrition: the IDF is establishing a reserve division for 38-58 year olds, and is having difficulty recruiting its soldiers
3,000 soldiers out of about 15 thousand planned joined the "David Division" in the last 9 months, which includes 5 reserve brigades and is supposed to help stop invasions of Israel, like the one that happened on 7/10. A unique effort bar, mental and physical tests, a weapon that will be kept at home all year round - and also a Bedouin battalion: this is how the IDF hopes to achieve operational activation as early as 2025

$100 billion price tag so far for Israel's wars since Oct 7th 2023.

That's separate from US weapons pricetag
