If you're talking to a pagan, you are almost certainly talking to someone who has gone through a period of atheism, and then felt a pull towards some kind of religiosity, but political factors prevent them from just becoming a Christian. I think the religion of today is a synthesis of various things. My theory of gods is that they are mostly an egregore, which is a thought form. A psychic entity.
